How Much Should I Bet On Slot Machines

How Much Should I Bet On Slot Machines

Many players wonder what the ideal bet on slot machines really is. Many times there can be a lot of confusion, especially for new slots players, when it comes to various betting options available. Here is a look into slot machine coin denominations and when you should bet max when playing such slots.

In this article we will try to address the question: How Much Should I Bet On Slot Machines?

Understanding Coin Denominations

The coin denomination, or coin value, you select on any video slot or classic slot will directly dictate the value that each spin you place will hold, whether it’s one (1) cent or one (1) pound (or even more), that is the value of each coin.

Think of it as a penny, if you select a low coin value of one (1) cent, then you should consider that each coin you play to be the equivalent of a single penny or cent in your currency.

Slots that offer such low coin denominations or coin values are know as Penny Slots.

The ability to change your coin denominations when playing allows you to achieve a broader range of slot limits. Such a system also accommodates a wider range of player bankrolls.

The value of the coin applied multiplied by the number of pay-lines you’d like to bet, and the number of coins you’d like to wager on each of these pay-line, will ultimately give you your total bet amount (a.k.a hand value).

A maximum bet is by very definition a bet which covers all possible pay-lines each of which in turn wagered at the highest number of coins per line possible. A true maximum bet is also considered to be set at the highest coin denomination offered by the slot machine.

Many casinos limit the maximum bet allowed on their slot machines in order for them to reduce the chances of a player winning several tens of thousands of euro in a single spin. Be careful though, sometimes a max bet can still be as high as several hundred euro per spin, something which most players are not comfortable wagering!

When Should I Bet The Maximum?

As we discussed, a Max Bet or (Betting Max) simply means placing the highest possible bet value on a spin as the machine will allow you to do.

It's worth noting that there are many slot games which incorporate a Bet Max button that automatically places the maximum bet with a single click.

The reason that betting max can be important in some type of slots is because there are a number of such games in which the Jackpot or the Progressive Jackpot can only be won when a player bets the maximum.

This alone can dictate whether or not you can afford to play such a slot. If your budget for a slots session is €50 and the maximum bet on that slot is €5 then you will not get your value for money and are more than likely to run out of funds before anything interesting happens.

Therefore as a general rule, you should always bet max when there is a chance of getting a free spins or bonus round, when you are aiming to hit a Progressive Jackpot on a game and most importantly when you know you can afford it!

Betting Bigger - Winning Even Bigger!

It's very important to keep in mind that real wins are derived from a few rounds which really pay out rather then from lots of small payout rounds. Therefore it is important to find the right balance with respect to your bankroll.

Bet too low and when you win you will not get the best potential amount you can, bet too high and you run the risk of losing all your money before the slot machine has a chance to hit a big winning spin.

Some slot machines actually pay out better when you play the maximum bet.

For example, on some 3-reel slot machines, if you hit a line of the top-paying symbols you might win (for example) 1,000 credits if you are playing a credit per line.

However, if you had been playing maximum credits per line (for example, 3 credits), then the top win might rise all the way 10,000 credits. This is proportionally much better for you as a player.

Whatever you do however, make sure you at the very least bet in a manner which covers all possible pay-lines - it's a golden rule!

Not Betting Max Is Often A Big Mistake?!

Generally speaking, if you know you can afford to play the maximum bet value it tends to be a good thing to do. Playing the maximum bet comes with an added perk of higher multipliers when a win is hit, and again many progressive jackpots can only be won via a max bet

A good tip to consider if you have a smaller bankroll would be look for games with lower max bets rather than lowering the bet value on games with max bet amounts which are too high for you.

Many casino players will tell you that playing in this way, in the long term, will be a far more profitable strategy.

Having set all of this it is just as important to know and understand your own personal limits. Never bet money you cannot afford to lose as it's a sure fire way to go down a path which no one wants to be on.

As always, Best of luck!
